General Discussion / Fish fry?
« on: November 16, 2010, 01:43:07 PM »
I've brought the topic up with Holhisle but thought I would see what u'all thought of the idea before we put anymore time into the thought. I was thinking an end of the year fish fry with a donation at the door to help pay for the sight, maybe an auction, raffle, maybe some video of the years fishing. Would you come? Anyone got any other ideas? I just thought dave puts enough time into the sight he shouldn't have to put his personal funds into to keep it going, not only would a donation fill our belly's with some good food but it would help keep this sight going. What do you all think?

General Discussion / new lures
« on: November 14, 2010, 02:12:51 PM »
anyone pickup any new lures that might become your go to lure this year? I found some rapala jigging minnows that are only a 1/2" long, these might be deadly on perch and crappie, Ive never seen them so small, had to buy one in every color they had. I hope Holhisles been working out over the off season, he's going to  have a hard time carrying out my fish bucket. ;D

General Discussion / Getting the fever
« on: November 11, 2010, 06:21:25 PM »
Man am I getting the hard water fever, I put my tackle box together tonight, and can't walk into a sporting goods store without buying something for ice fishing. I'm hoping it comes sooner than later, less than 2 months. I've herd different reports, some say its going to be cold with little precip and others say above normal temps. I've watched just about every you tube video on ice fishing on the net. Anyone else got the fever?

« on: November 03, 2010, 07:10:00 PM »
Under photos there is a pic posted of a table full of crappie, and under the pic holhiesle wrote some of his catches from last year, THAT IS MY TABLE, DINNING ROOM, FISH, AND CAT! alright I'll be honest he may have caught 6, that was a day he decided to stick his lure down my hole while I WAS FISHING IN IT!!!!! I suggest to all planning on fishing with dave this year, buy a cattle shocker, and hide your fish. ::) Man its good to be back ;)

« on: November 03, 2010, 06:52:21 PM »
I really need someone to invent a device that will keep holheisel out of my fishing holes this year, maybe something that will give him a slight shock when he tries, nothing that will stop his heart but maybe put him on his @$$. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Alum Creek / update 2/23
« on: February 24, 2010, 07:18:33 AM »
hit the beach area with concerns of the ice, but it turned out to have 4'' good ice with 4'' bad on top with alot of slush. did pretty good, caught small perch and white bass in 36' of water, than move in to the road bed in 12' of water and caught a 3lb eye and had a monster break off after 5mins. of drag squelling excitement, my hart dropped and my pole went flying but man what fun.

Alum Creek / update 12-14
« on: February 14, 2010, 10:15:05 AM »
We've been fishing alum hard the last two days without great success, ice seems to be good just about everywhere, but don't take my word fr it always check with a spud. Galena has been hit or miss, guys are still pulling crappies out but not like early season, I've tried in the mouth ofbig run of the road bed, markd alot but didn't catch alot but we did catch species. We tried in the mouth of the sail club yesterday and didn't mark anything, I did have one good hit and lost one halfway up, other than that no one got a hit, but we did leave before prime time because somone had to get home and cook his wife dinner, I'm thinking tues. we'll try nfront of the beach towards te dam for eyes and perch, if dave will let me pick the next spot, cause my last two picks weren't great. We'll put dinner for our wifes in the oven before we head out so we can stay till prime time.
