Title: Tuesday 1/7
Post by: icebucketjohn on January 07, 2014, 05:39:31 PM
Brutal out there today. Coldest & Windiest I've ice fished in decades. Had trouble with the Clam Nanook staying in one place plus the Mr. Buddy Propane Heater's Pilot Light kept going out due to the wind.
Fished the C5 (Campground Bay). 3 other shanties. Water stained to due weeds starting to die off. Ice was 4 inches.
Fished from 8:30am -3:30pm with a newbie, my backpacking buddy, Rick. It was his very first time ice fishing. Despite the frigid conditions, he caught a few fish and had a good time.
Very slow all day. Must've drilled 30 holes. Caught 25, kept a half dozen.
May hit it tomorrow too, but fish in another spot.

sounds good TJ... I kept in contact with him yesterday and I'm certain he's itchin' to hit the ice too, but health conditions are limiting his ventures to join us.
