Title: Ice fishing trip?
Post by: fishintechnician on January 27, 2014, 06:20:57 PM
Ok guys thinking of taking a 3 to 4 day trip somewhere in Ohio to fish mid feb. Any suggestions? I enjoy pan fishing crappie and would love to find some perch. Just looking for somewhere don't really wanna mess w a guide. Although I may consider it. But more than likely just a lake and a hotel to stay at. Thanks

How far off the island do you have to go? We will be on foot

If the ice is safe then, Mouse Island reef is one mile from the ferry. Or take an air boat out.

I would use caution around Mouse. Very tricky ice up near there. I won't even venture there and fish all around the area. Bad current through that area and can cut the ice from underneath pretty bad. I know guys do it but you can walk a little further on safer ice near Catawba. JMO

Any inland lakes anyone can recommend? I'd love to get up to Erie I just don't see it happening unless some one would want to show us around. I don't know the area very well.
