Title: Crane creek 3-1-14
Post by: Bryan on March 01, 2014, 09:40:48 PM
Had an awesome day on the ice today!
Had a few delays, but wound up getting on the ice and my line in the water at 11 am. Got the first walleye out in less than 2 minutes. Had 3 caught in the first 30 minutes, took another half hour to catch number four.
My co-worker caught his limit after two hours. All fish (except one at 18") were around 22".

Went out straight towards west sister about 3.5 miles,  yellow #5  pimple...my go to color.

Good job. Nice eaters. What depth were you fishing? Any problems with ice or any cracks out of Crane?

Thank you g!
No problem with the crack near shore, looked like a highway at the crossing spot. Ice thickness was at least 18", have no idea on the depth...no electronics with us.

Great day. How do you get to where guys park to go out of crane? Just follow Park Rd. 1 back to the end? What is the closest bait to there? Going to join you fellows next weekend.

Yeah, but I think the road had a different name even though Google maps showed it as park rd 1.
Magee east is only a mile away and sells a generous scoop of minnows for $8.00

Providing that crack near shore doesn't get worse, we'll be there again next weekend!

Any idea what the name of the road sign was? Though I could just follow the traffic it sound like.

You can not miss the big sign on route 2 for the Crane Creek road that takes you to the parking lot. I'm not sure what road is called. Or even if it has a name .

Thanks Eyewall! I've never had fishing like that before...they practically jumped out the hole!

Especially great day fishing blind-no electronics. Fish must of been really hammering your bait. Are there many people going out during the week? Imay be able to go Thurs. and Fri. but have never gone out of Crane. Would be nice to follow someone past the crack. Great job Bryan.

Glad to hear you got them in a little closer. I have a feeling that area will be packed by the weekend... I went over and marked the small pack there to test out. I would rather catch those fish at this point, good day!

Thanks g!
Hammering it was an understatement! They were aggressively biting, and without electronics you had no idea they were there till your pole about gets yanked outta your hand...what a rush!
