Title: Walborn today-10/21/14
Post by: slabslayer on October 21, 2014, 04:45:18 PM
Hit up Walborn for an hour this afternoon in the old flat bottom. Got into the fish and got 25 in that span. 24 were crappies and 1 looked like a baby white bass. Most of the crappie were small, but I could've kept 8-10 of them legally with 2 fish between 11 1/2-12". Everything came on a chartreuce 1/8oz. Road Runner fished about 4-5' deep over 10' of water. The fish were surprisingly shallow, even being able to see some follow the lure back to the boat in very stained water. The visibility was less than 18" where I was fishing. I was doing a lift and drop presentation with the lure, the was no bait or plastic trailer, just the marabou tail on the lure. The bites were super light and came on the fall, making them hard to detect in the wind, but the rod I was using really helped and the 1 pound line was super sensitive. I had an ice reel on one of my short, super sensitive tipped crappie rods! Come on ice! ! ;D

and I bet that crappie thought hiding under the bridge was a good idea ;D ....last few days I have been at wingfoot and moggy. getting perch and crappys, gills, and some big cats both channel and bulls, trolling crank baits or drifting crappie rigs with minnows..that does look like w/bass. good to get out and enjoy the fresh air, glad ya shared the trip. you know with all the leaves in the water I don't trust my fish finder anymore ... :P.. let me know sometime maybe I will throw the little boat in ;D
