The first pull off @ Long Island has 3 1/2 inches of clear ice. There was about 8 other guys there catching bluegill,crappie, and a few perch. I ended up catching around 20-30 gills with 6 gills between 9 - 9 1/2 inches (threw them all back). The perch I saw caught were pretty good ones too. With this warm up we're going to get tomorrow the ice probably won't last, but should be back by the weekend (Jan 10th). It was GREAT to finally be on some fishable ice and even better to have a pretty good day of fishing.

Way to go Maxdad! With rain falling this morning, I am about sure the ice will be getting soft pretty fast. The forecast is calling for more cold temps after this weekend. I hope I can get out and get some of those big gills and some bonus perch.
