Instead of ice marching south, I wish it would sprint, or at the very least, jog. High temps in the 60's for this weekend.
Me too! Just have to wait it out....January we'll be on the ice...

Great link Andy. I read one article that said an El Nino would cause the temps to only be one or two degrees warmer than normal but the precipitation would be less than normal. Hope the temps drop and we get good ice.

I know what you mean Bruce. Used to always look forward to getting on the ice on Christmas. Many years that was the first day the ice was thick enough to walk on inland lakes. Hasn't been that way for many years, unfortunately.

I think it'll come, just not till the end of January. Last time we had an El Nino I wasn't on any ice til the last weekend of January, but then the entire month of February only one day was the high above freezing. Hope that's how it goes this year since I saw 40's thru mid January in the long term.

Patients mr. Saw guy! It will come just like my phone call from slabslayer. He promised me no later than Monday and today is Wednesday,but just like ice fishing season I know it will come. ;)

I like the optimism. We've been spoiled the last two years. Dock tournies are fun, but should be on ice in January.

ICE? hahahh yes ill say it :P I hope I'm fishin out of my boat all winter. we need a change up holy cow the last few winters have been brutal, sorry if I'm a buzz kill for ice but I don't want to be dumped into the ice age again, I'm smiling in my boat.....

Agreed. I haven't winterized mine yet. With temps in the 60s this weekend looks like I did the right thing. I'm smelling a crappie trip Sunday.

We had 27F in Powell, OH last night.....first sign of cold weather we've had. It will be a while before we get anything to sustain a freeze. I think mid-late January is a good estimate...
