Title: Otter's walleye thread!
Post by: Bryan on March 20, 2016, 04:24:02 PM
Got my boat put in Saturday and got a few hours trolling in before dark. After no ice...I was happy to finally catch a walleye! I was down to just a couple bags in the freezer...red alert! (http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/Piper_pilot/20160319_161058.jpg)
This was today, got 8 fatties in 4.5 hours. (http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/Piper_pilot/20160320_143621-1.jpg) (http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/Piper_pilot/20160320_153818.jpg)

Nice!!! Great job Bryan. Hope to have my boat up there April 8. Seems like an eternity until it will get here. May have to hit a headboat 3-26 to help my withdraws. What was the hot lures? Keep it up and have a blast.

HAHAHA! Thanks! The best lures that worked today was natural perch and wonder bread, fish were all over the water column (see pic) but they only hit at 15 feet, and speed was 1.1 to 1.3 mph. (http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/Piper_pilot/20160319_194828.jpg)

Thanks for the info Bryan. You were definitely marking fish, with some really nice size marks. Keep on them and slam them hard. I'll bet Nate is salivating almost as much as me. LOL

10 more this weekend, the northeast wind wasn't helping... Fried up two tonight for supper, the rest went into the freezer. (http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/Piper_pilot/20160327_142322-1.jpg)

Weather looks good for this weekend so maybe you can finally get out again Bryan. Getting my boat out of storage this weekend and should have it up there next weekend for the season. Chomping at the bit to get up there again. Good luck if you make it out.

Finally got out today...but, this constant east wind is driving me nuts. Caught 8 today and I heard other guys on the radio were struggling too. Some guys were out hours longer and caught less...so I'm thankful for the ones we were blessed with today! Trying again tomorrow! I ran into this guy a couple years ago, he told me that his last four charter trips to Erie only got him one fish each time...and how he was always was bummed out driving back home to Cincinnati. Yesterday he and his son got their limits! When we were done and headed back to port, I heard the son telling his dad that "this was the best fishing trip ever!"...that was my highlight of the day!

Had a trip on sunday...Tony reeled in a 29 " big girl, biggest fish he's ever caught in his life...there was no getting rid of that grin for the rest of the day! Had to move a few times to find them then we had a nice catch rate. (http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/Piper_pilot/received_1291622050852154.jpeg)
The fog was super thick too, couldn't see much past the bow! radar and GPS sure did make moving around a lot easier and safer! (http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/Piper_pilot/20160501_103832.jpg)

Good job Bryan. 5 of us went out around Kellys Fri. afternoon. Jigged the South side East of the ferry and caught nothing. Went to the West side North of the stone dock and caught numerous fish o sheephead, many had a pretty gold color to them. Moved to the south side of the stone dock and picked up 3 eyes from 2 to 5 lbs., more sheephead and 2 smallies. Boat ran good and is there for the season. Come on nicer weather.
