Title: New Injection Machine--with micro plastic molds!
Post by: slabslayer on December 04, 2016, 04:58:24 PM
I recently purchased an injection machine and 20 molds to make my own soft plastics. I'll be accepting orders once I get the hang of it.  I'll let everyone know cost and patterns when I'm ready to sell.  All the molds except one for drop shot worms are for crappie and ice fishing. I also have over 40 colors of dye, so colors are almost unlimited. I'll post some of my first runs once I'm up and running.  All depends on when the baby comes!

I'm a micro plastic junkie. Let me know when you get it up and running. I may be able to fit a few more in my ice bag... maybe

I don't know why that's funny... oh I forgot, grant. You have never seen my garage have you? If you had you would know I have a separate bag for just about everything. I may be as bad as quackpot.I just don't advertise it. Lol

That's one hell of a setup, the days of making my own molds , melting / dying plastic, pouring it into a mold to make " glue sticks" and then using a glue gun to inject the molds is caveman style now. How many cavities are your molds . If I can give you a hint which I'm sure you already know, ventilation is a must when working with the plastics. A respirator is not a bad idea

Yes. I have a respirator and can open the garage door if necessary.  :o
My molds vary from 8 cavity to 50 cavity depending on the size of the bait I'm making. They vary from 3/4" to 4". From ice fishing baits for bluegill and crappie to bass drop shot lures. Also have 44 colors to mix and match with. Going to be fun!!

Now you're making me wish I still had all my old hand cut molds to start making them again. If you thought about making dual colors it's pretty easy, I always injected white first , open the molds, cut or tear the upper part off leaving the tail in the mold and inject what ever color I wanted next. The hot plastic adhered itself together and you could not separate them once they cooled. I rarely used glitter because it tends to plug everything up , but I was using a glue gun . The machine you have is one awesome looking setup and would love to see it in action one day.  Now you have to figure out a name for your new product. Slabslayers may be a good option ;)

Might be.  ;D I got the super fine glitter with the electric mixer on the machine. I've chatted with several guys and they all said with an injection machine you can use the glitter with no problems. They make 2 sizes, so for caution I got the small size. It'll be better with crappie and ice lures anyway and will still work on my 4" drop shot worms. I'm hoping to start making baits any day now. It's all going to depend how soon baby arrives. That could be any day as well and I don't want to be in the middle of a run and have to go to the hospital. I'd have a mess to clean up when I got back. I'll try to shoot some video with my GoPro and upload it to YouTube. If I can get good video, I'll post a link on here. And maybe if you're ever up this way you can see it.
