Title: Set ups
Post by: quackpot on January 19, 2017, 07:32:02 PM
By now everyone saw my jig assortment and my post about having a problem showing augers and shantys. Now it's time for ice rods and combos.

Will do!  Just got more in the mail today. Family from Florida is over tonight so I'll post tomorrow, and I promise to make you feel better. Although I think you have more set ups than I do now. I sold about 15-20 last winter I wasn't using....

I think I may be getting better. I went to marks today and only bought 1 rod holder and 2 small jigging lures.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I love this site! Some days I feel like I have way too much stuff and then bobby or slab get on here and I feel way better. Lol.
Bobby I usually carry 6 combos on the ice in my cabelas 8 rod bag. 2 18 in clam spring bobber rods with eagle claw inlines for jigging panfish. 1 21 inch UL spinning combo for my bobber rod. They all have 2 or 3 lb berkley ice line.  Then 3 saugeye setups. A 24 med a 28 mh and a 32 in mh with shimano reels. Braid with fluorocarbon leaders on 2 and 8 lb gamma on the third. Covers me for just about anything on Indian.

Ohiofisher I do like the inline reels but only for panfishing in shallow water.

I used them at the dock tournament we had last year at alum creek. Twenty foot of water just make sure the drag is loose in case you hook a big cat. Oh wait that was me when I didn't get in the big fish pot.

I always have plenty more in the truck. When we were hitting the docks I was carrying two rod bags with four in each one. This year I'm trying to cut back on what I take out with me.

Lol. I forgot about dock rods...2-28 in St croix avid with shimano reels and 2lb line and a 28 in St croix premier with a pflueger trion and 3 lb line. I use spring bobbers on all of them.

I'm happy with mine for the moment. No plans to buy any more unless I break them - I'm pretty good at that!

I'm with you Andy, I don't plan on buying more rods. If I do buy anymore, I will buy another Jason Mitchel perch rod to replace the one I broke a few years ago. It worked great for panfish and saugeyes.
