Title: First fish of the year
Post by: Mullygyn on January 01, 2018, 11:39:56 PM
Went to check the ice and couldn't go and not fish.. Ice was getting better, but the snow really slowed its progress. Was anywhere from 4 down to about 2. Was out for about 30 min and caught a 21 3/4 in saugeye with a tag on a blue and chrome vibe.

We started ice fishing a couple of years ago but have only hit Indian Lake. We haven't had much luck and I was thinking about trying Alum since we normally fish there in the the rest of the year. Is the middle pool a better spot or do you need to go north?

Great report from Alum.
Last Saturday morning I saw a guy with a blue Clam shanty sitting just south of the cliffs just south of 36/37. That spot has a ton of current and I was super surprised anyone would be able to get on the ice there this early. Hopefully he got off without issue.
I'll be out there soon. Just need to get a few things in order first.
