Just curious to know if people use either ice or soft water poles for these tournaments?

You can use either, but ice gear is preferred. However, whatever rod you use, no casting is permitted, only vertical ice fishing style presentations can be employed.

Ice tackle what folks are using but don't let that keep you home if you don't have any. I always have plenty of extra rods and gear with me

Thanks Slab and Baum. That definitely helped me with what to bring. I'm thinking about going this Saturday.
