Title: ice fishings greatest danger
Post by: pig puncher on January 06, 2011, 09:52:14 PM
i haven't seen it brought up yet, so i thought i'd say something about it. i read somewhere the number 1 injury to icefishermen was HEAD INJURIES from falling on ice. with the warm spell and rain, the ice is really slick. wear your cleats. we got a little snow today, but we had some wind so it may all blow off the ice. i've had my bell rung a couple times. luckily it was cold and i was wearing a trooper hat with my hood up. a warm day with my ball hat, it cold have been worse.

i'm just getting back to work from a fall and landing on my back and ringing my bell. the thing is thou i broke my back-shoulder blade-- and it was a flat surface that i landed on--like ice would be. the doc told me that this type of break is very common with this type of fall.
