Title: CJ Brown ice conditions 01/08/11
Post by: MW-Fishing on January 09, 2011, 09:01:17 AM
Ice was around 5 to 7in around the marina with open water pockets on the main lake. It was a great day fishing with my friends ratherbe and buckshot even though the catching was subpar. We caught a lot of dink bluegills and crappie around the marina docks. Only 1 keeper crappie caught all day long. Well best of luck to every one. Maxdad

I was out at CJ today. I started out on the west bank near the dam, no luck. I ended up in the marina where i struck out agan....saw a few crappie caught, but i just couldn't make it happen. Any suggestions on bait/ presentaton? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Josh

Seems like the small chart/orange jigs are still the ticket. Tip with a single or double spike. Bottom pound and then give a gentle raise. If you make it two feet off the bottom without a strike.... drop down and start over. I've caught the vast majority of mine within about a foot of the bottom.
