Post by: JustNutts on January 10, 2011, 01:52:44 AM
Wanted to throw this out for you guys who fish delaware to mansfield and surrounding areas- If you are catching nice healthy crappies but are to small to keep for yourselves I would be more than happy to take them for my pond. Obviously alive and obviously if legal to keep where you are fishing, either white or black crappies. Thanks alot.

I don't think its legal to catch them from state lakes and transplant into a private pond. However, I would think its ok from a private pond owner to another.
Maybe IceBucketJohn would know this one?

Russ be careful doing that. Ive done it from time to time. Find a fish hatchery around you and just buy them Very cheep. If you put in a fish that has a disease you will destroy the hole pond. Usually you have to drain and start over. What size pond do you have now. A good forum to learn is Pondboss.com. Also you need to find out what kind of pond you want to have. It needs a good balance of fish. I would do alot of perch. They say bass and crappies dont mix very well. If your family is going to swim dont put any bluegills. They like to bite ;D. If I can help let me know. I used this when I first started. http://www.remlingerfishfarm.com/recom.html
