Title: Older model ice augers
Post by: fishingislife on September 08, 2011, 01:14:31 PM
I found an ice auger at a garge sale and wanted to know if a 15 yr old jiffy ice auger would be worth my money. Owner said it sat in a shed for 10 yrs and it runs on the 7th pull. He is asking $175 for it and it looks in good shape for being 15 yrs old. Thanks for any help/info.

I would check with a small engine repair store or even call jiffy and ask them what it would cost to tune up.
Also, I would look into a new one. I think CRV bought one under $300.

I think I would be worried about something that is 15 years old. You may not be able to get some of the parts if it breaks down. I bought a new eskimo z51 for 289 with free shipping last season. That auger is an absolute beast. The only down side is that it is a little on the heavy side.
