Title: Portage Lakes Field Report Tuesday Jan10, 2012
Post by: icebucketjohn on January 10, 2012, 12:41:54 PM
Just got back from a drive by check of Portage Lakes, Akron Ohio.
Sad to say, there are areas with NO ICE and some areas with SKIM ICE only.
I drove to Old State Park even taking my spud bar, but after looking at it closely, it wasnt worth spuddin' the ice. (Even saw where someone put in a boat making a pathway thru the ice to the main body (Turkeyfoot).
Maybe by Sunday guys, but not a chance withn the next 24-48 hrs.

Agreed. I'm thinking Sunday or Monday for safe ice. I'll be on something for sure Monday morning, just not sure where.

There are some ponds (old gravel pits) in the Five Rivers Metroparks system down here that had started to skim over but not anymore!!! We're going to have to start over again >:( I don't imagine Indian Lake or Kaiser looks good either!! :'(
