Title: Relieved to have so little ice right now.
Post by: ratherbefishing on January 12, 2012, 09:26:05 AM
With the impending snowfall, it's actually pretty nice to have open water in so many areas right now. The reality is setting in that we'll be lucky to get fishable ice for any extended periods this season. The extended forecast was looking much better until today, when several 40+ degree days magically appeared next week.

With the snowfall on open water, the lakes should cool off quickly. There will be no marring of first ice by snow at this rate.

Let the freezing begin.

Just watch the roads out there tonight and tomorrow morning, they will probably get slick as ....., you know!! 10 day still has it's up and downs, but the trend with colder nights down here will be great. Come on ice!!!

Agreed no snow to rot the ice and delay ice thickening.  Should start building ice now.
