Title: New bass lures I just got--they're awsome!!
Post by: slabslayer on January 30, 2012, 04:20:31 PM
Starting to shift my focus to the soon-to-be-here soft water season. Ordered some custom bass crankbaits and they just arrived. Starting to doubt an ice season of more than a week at best, so starting to prep my softwater gear to be ready for what looks-like an early bass boating season. Hope this year will be better than last season. Last year was my worst big-fish year in over 15 years. Time to change that!!

Sweet looking lures! What did you pay per bait, if you don't mind me asking? I am going to bass fish more this season than years past. I would like to break my personal best smallie mark. One I caught in Canada 5 years ago went 5lbs 8oz. I didn't get a mount of it because the goal has always been a 6lber or better for smallies, 10lb or better largemouth, 10lb or better saugeye, 13lb or better walleye, and that's pretty much it for fresh water. I doubt I would ever get a panfish mounted but I have seen some pretty ones out there.

About $15/each. The top 4 came from 6th Sense Lures, and the bottom lure, the frog wakebait is from Custom Bass Tackle. I deal direct with them, but they both sell on ebay as well. It's about $15/bait if you send them a bait, or about $25 if they buy the bait and paint it. I like to send in my favouite lures that are all chewed up from bass teeth and have no paint left on them. I swear sometimes you can have 2 identical lures and one's better than the other. I save the good ones and have Casey from 6th Sense put custom paint jobs on them. I catch more fish on the custom lures. The paint jobs are so realistic it looks like a real fish. And the clear coats are amazing! My pictures don't do them justice. I'll see if I can get a better pic in the sun today. He's also designed a couple technique specific custom rods for me. One for timber cranking that's still in the works, and the other for lipless crankbaits, which is awsome.

Here's a pic of the bluegill out in the sun. The metalflake and clear really shine. Looks awsome underwater, I've seen it on some clearwater lakes and it looks amazing!

That's a pretty sick looking crankbait! He does do a great job by the looks of that one. I'm not sure if I'm ready to dive into bass fishing quite like that though... Does he do any bait repaints you want? Hmm... I bet I could find some old Erie baits that I would love to get a custom job on.

He'll do anything you want. He's done some walleye baits for me as well. He has a website, 6th sense lures, with some patterns or he can do a custom color. My best crankbait I have, and have won tournaments with, is a custom color not on his site. He'll do anything. He's amazing with a lure's paint scheme. You can also check his stuff out on ebay, just search 6th sense lure. If you're thinking about getting some done, better sooner than later. If you send in now, they'll be here by April, he's that busy. It's his day job, not a hobby.

I dont get to fish as much as I like but when I do nothing beats a Big O in crawdad paint. It has never left me down.

Crawdad has won me more money and tournaments than any other color. Love fishing it around rocks and bridges. Some of my biggest bass came on the summer crayfish color.
