Title: Knots

I picked up some Gill Pills last year. When I tie direct to them they end up hanging straight up and down after jigging them for a while. I'm trying to keep the horizontal presentation. Maybe tying a loop knot would help keep it that way and allow it to "dance" when jigging?

A loop knot will let the jig dance, but I dont think it would help keep it horizontal. I think it would do the opposite, the jig would want to hang vertical. If you want a horizontal presentation, you need a knot that will stay nice and tight on the eyelet. Google the homer circle knot. It's not the easiest to knot to tie, but it stays good and tight. The only time I have to reposition the jig is after I catch a fish.

i just tie slip knots down my line for extra jigs...seems to work fine....i also use the loop knots sometimes too

A palomar knot has two parallel lines running through the eye of the hook. These two lines keep your baits horizontal in they are meant to be fished in a horizontal presentation.
In the last couple of years I've been fishing jigs on more of a 45 to 60 degree angle. This seems to drive the hook into the upper lip better.
Try a Genz Worm or another of the jigs that are marketed as a "balanced jig" if you're looking for a horizontal presentation. This will stay horizontal regardless of your knot selection.

I use the palomar as well. But after 2 or 3 fish the kknot doesn't want to stay horizontal. Use a dot of super glue.
