so is anybody using the spring bobber setups from JM? just curious i saw a guy using a st croix one and it looked like it really did good....just wondering...

Probably doesnt help much but I saw a nice little set up on a ice fishing show the other day it wasnt a spring it clips on the side of your pole close to the top eye it detects slight bits or even if your bait is sucked in the looked very nice the bad part is I can't remember the name of it or what show it was on if I can find out what it was called I will let you know.

My favorite light-bite pan-fish stick is a St Croix with the adjustable spring bobber ( simple/quick to change tension settings) durable....Fish really well even under harsh condition where other spring bobber tend to ice up......Don't know about the JM type. But I've fished spring bobbers for over 50 years and sometimes you see one that catches your eye and you just have to take the plunge and give it a try.....Some will work great/ some will just do the job/and some turn out to not be worth a crap for your style of fishing.....I'm always lookin...Matter of fact !!!!!! Frabill has come out with a new Tungsten Wire one ( that I'm lookin in to) Expensive but if they meet expectations....Should be indestructible......which speaks for its self....................Best of luck in your spring bobber quest.....

I heard that tungsten one is the way to go but I just don't use them. Give me my vexilar and a Jason MItchell quiver stick on a fly reel or micro spin reel

Ive been using the Frabill ones found at Gander for the last few years and really like them, never had any problems, durable and quite helpful in detecting the light biters....

. I believe the Quiver Stick is made by Thorne Bros.

I too have the st croix and although expensive was actually cheaper than what thorn bros is asking for the quiver stick. It caught my interest too but it is over priced for simply illiminating the need for a spring bobber. They are one of the few companies left who make their products in the USA so if you have $60-$80 to drop on a rod, I recommend going Thorn Bros quiver stick but next year there will be other manufactures copying this rod for cheaper so at least try to get it on sale or something.
You could also call them and order yourself a customer quiver stick if you want- they are always open to building rods specific to your needs there. I have spoken to the owner on several occasions and he is a great guy.

Yes you are right what I use is the Jason Mitchell elite series 24 inch medium light rods. Guess that is not a quiver stick

I like the Frabill deadstick rod. For the price you can't beat it. I can have 3 or 4 for the price of a Thorne or a St Croix. They're a newer rod, only a couple years old, but they perform very well.
