Just called and talked to Mogadore bait and tackle.  Ice not ready yet as of this morning, no one fishing.  He said he's  expecting Palm Road to be ready for fishing on Sunday.  I can't make Sunday, but I'll be there Monday morning bright and early.  Hope the fishing's picked up.  Mogadore's really tailed off recently in quantity and quality.  Disappointing.  But even small gills will scratch the itch and are better than jigging in the laundry sink! ;D

Palm road is shallow.  4-6 with mud. But always freezes first. You can catch some bulls there if you move around. I need 4 " before I go out.

I'll be there Monday either way.  If the ice is crystal clear I'll fish on 2 1/2 to 3 inches.  If it's milky I'll wait till 4 inches.  That's for Palm.  I won't fish deep or unfamiliar water until we have 3 1/2 inches of safe ice.  Palm is so shallow, if I go thru, at 6' 3" I can stand with head and shoulders above water.

Palm rd. area is a mud and muck bottom.  Don't expect to stand up and get right out. First ice, the spud bar is your best friend.  Use it!!

It's the back waters of Mogadore Res.  Located in Portage/Summit counties. It is always the first part of the lake to freeze and is very inviting to us locals. Palm Road gets you access to it. Usually within a day or two, the rest of the back waters freeze.  Then most anglers are able to migrate into the next accesssible portion off of Congress Lake Road (CLR).  Not the best angling, but definitely the first angling opportunity.  8)
