just wanting to know if there has been any fishable ice spotted yet? if so, where at? as already stated, i am new to ice fishing and unsure of where to go since i dont really wanna be going out on unsafe ice. was thinking of places like willard reservior, killdeer reservior, or some small reserviors or ponds near those areas or near marion.

Willard area and east to wellington north to norwalk all open water only ponds have ice with 3in .

Ice is forming up here, but none was safe as of yesterday. Hope Palm Road on Mogadore will be ok tomorrow, but with snow, I have my doubts. :-\

Give it this week and i think we will have some safe ice by the weekend. The fish are not going anywhere and its better to play it safe.
Reports will be coming in all week.

Today my has about 4ins.2ins. good and2ins. of cloudy ice.in two days it put on 1in. of good ice with 5ins. of snow.it will make ice just takes longer.use that spudbar,no good in the truck.think safety at all times.I'm thinking new years day.I'm talking about my pond with 4ins.

If any one gets a chance to check killdeer and post a report that would bew greatly apperciated. Res or some of the ponds, just post which one

I went to a small pond near upper sandusky today. There was about 3 1/2 on it. I bought some waxies and am going to look again in the morning. If its not good maybe Ill go fish off the docks at the Upper res. Also just fyi I see there are signs at the old Upper res. says ice fish at your own risk. Something new this year.

I talked to a guy earlier today in minnesota and he said there was roughly around 12 inches of ice.My girlfriend said she wouldnt move there hmmm im gonna have to think on that one.I guess ill keep her and wait till buckeyes got safe ice its only 20 minutes away ;D

There were some guys fishing Indian Lake today, on the east side of the lake. The ice isn't very thick...approx. 3", maybe a little thicker in some areas.
It seems that those guys are taking a lot of risk...being out there this early. One guy fell through the ice and went in up to his waist. He lost his fishing gear, but got out. Nuts! :o
The fish aren't going anywhere...I'll wait another week or so. 8)

Thanks for the reports, i was hoping to get out and try today. But it doesnt seem like a good idea, oh well, i guess ill have t wait a while. Probly next winter to be exact lol. I work 7 days a week usualy, but am on christmas/new years shutdown right now but i go back tuesday night. I gotta say, i was really hoping to get out since i was only able to fish 5 times this past year, an all time low for me. But, i worked 7 days a week since January and have had only 14 days off total throughout the 2012 year, and yes, that includes this shutdown im on.

I really wanted to get out today too. Try for Thursday or Friday. Bummer on your work schedule. All that money, can buy fishing gear and then don't get to use it. Life's not fair sometimes......

lol nope, not fair at all. oh well, nobody ever said life was going to be fair. ill just have to start looking for another job and hopefully in the summer i can get a chance to get out. good luck to ya when you do go :)

Made it out for about 3 hours today. had about 4 inches. about 50/50 between clear and white. I didnt venture any further then i had to. One small gill and one LMB. I wasnt willing to roam too much to look for better marks. small private pond.

Glad you made it out. I checked 3 spots and none were ready yet. Hoping for Thursday or Friday for me up here.

sweet, glad you got out and got a couple. better than nothing. hopefully you get some more ice soon and can get out and get more. good luck to ya
