Title: All around rod?
Post by: MDBuckeye on January 24, 2013, 01:37:22 AM
I was looking to purchase a new rod but want some suggestions from peanut gallery... I would be using it to do multiple applications (crappie, perch, and saugeye). I plan on using it as a jigging stick.
Thoughts?

Normally I'd recommend 1 rod for the panfish and 1 for the toothy fare, but if you only want 1 go with a Jason Mitchell meat stick. I'd probably go with a medium action, it'll give you enough backbone for the eyes. It'd be too heavy for bluegill, but will probably work for crappie, as you normally use a larger lure for them.

I would go with the Jason Mitchell perch rod. Has a lot of backbone to it! Some people use them to finesse fish for walleye.

Agreed go Jason Mitchell perch rod or the meat stick. I have both but you can't go wrong there
