Title: Up and Down Weather Patterns
Post by: icebucketjohn on February 13, 2013, 02:04:36 PM
The anxiety and disappointment of this ice fishing season has been moreso than in years past. Last year, we had a solid season of no ice whatsoever.

This year has been nothing but a teaser!

This year is different b/c the cold and warm spells seem to be playing with our heads, body and minds. Should I put the gear away or shouldn't I? Should I purchase more ice fishing gear & equipment or not? Should I plan on any out of state treks or not? Is the ice safe at "such and such lake"?

Another cold spell on the way this week., Feb 13-19. Maybe, just maybe I'll get out for the 3rd time this season.

Let's keep our spirits up and our rods ready!

That lake is amazing for bass after ice out.  It's one of the best kept bass lakes in the state.  Just the launch ramp sucks, it's so tight and a horrible layout with where the handicap parking is.  If someone's there it's almost impossible to launch or load my 20 foot Ranger with my full size F-350.  But the bassin is worth the headache.  Got many a 5 pounder out of there! ;D

This up and down weather really does suck! I'd take a winter of warm before this!! Although this next week doesn't look too bad. If any ice stuck around through this warm up it will probably be fishable in a week!

Its rare but not impossible to get on 3rd ice. be safe. and use this time to stock up on gear for next year- shops are off loading inventory for the big spring push.
