Title: ice reports
Post by: Ntoiceman36 on February 22, 2013, 10:44:42 AM
Everyone wants to hear safe ice reports,no ice is safe,if you report 4"-5" of ice 200 yards from you you may only be 1" with the season we are having,so take these reports for what they are "reports of a specific area being fished at a specific time".my idea of safe ice is what i spud myself, check the ice and continue on if I feel comfortable continuing.we shouldnt chance our safety on someone elses report because they are only accurate for that area, just saying! 8)

Very True!! If we only posted safe ice reports we wouldn't have much of a site. Please take all my reports for what they are. Reports for conditions on a specific area at a specific time. I would hate for someone to take a report I post and then go frollicking around half hazardly and fall in. I make sure to spud to and from each location I fish in. This is also true on the rare occassion that we have 8 - 10 inches awell as the obvious 4" spudding ice. be safe always wear your saftey gear and spud to and from your location. Just because you see someone walking in a direction doesn't mean the ice is good where they are walking.

Went out today and with in hours the ice rotted away. We got off and will not be back out again this year. The FAT LADY has sung and for me this season is done.

I'm afraid of the same thing. I loaded the bass boat this afternoon. My first tournament is March 29th, so I'll be ready. ;D. Disappointed the ice is gone so fast.

You guys looked at the forecast lately?? Next week highs around 30 and this week highs around 35 or lower for me! It's not going anywhere fast. I still have at least two weekends left if I drive north or maybe around home!

Mosquito had 7-8 inches on this weekend. People fishing everywhere on the lake. It will take more than 1 day to melt that away.

Warm sun today and rain tomorrow could cause problems for the remaining ice. :-\
