Title: Grand Lake Ice Fading Fast 12-22-2013
Post by: toadfish on December 22, 2013, 11:03:41 AM
The ice is fading fast on Grand Lake now that the wind has kicked up.  Looks like about 1/3 of the center of the lake is open and my guess is that gap will continue to widen as the day progresses and wind continues to blow.  A couple ponds nearby were completely open.  Now to play the waiting game once again for cold weather.

Good thing there is still football, unless you are a Browns fan like me.

Come on 2nd season of ice!

The lake only came up a couple of inches.  There is about 1" of ice covering it right now after last nights dip into the low double digits.  I don't think it got too stirred up since the ice was still on while the winds blew.  Maybe a few days of cold weather with no snow will allow us to get back out.  Don't forget, we were blessed with a very early ice season this year, there will be more to come.

Merry Christmas!
