Title: Pro Staff ice Report 1/10/14
Post by: ratherbefishing on January 10, 2014, 01:23:20 PM
I personally made a trip to killdeer reservoir this morning. I checked ice on the north end of the lake near the ramp and found that most holes to be between 8 and 9 inches with about 3 inches of slush on the surface. The temperature at that time was about 34 degrees. The high for the next two days for Marseilles is 41 degrees with very limited rainfall projected. The low temperatures are right around the freezing mark.

I plan on fishing killdeer reservoir on Sunday morning at daybreak which is about 7:30 a.m.. We do have a backup but I feel that the ice should hold on just fine.

There were two fishermen on the lake this morning.

Ryan I may try to make it up sat. Do you know how much rain we are supposed to get? How much damage do you think it will do? Think we will have to plank out?

No one should ever plank onto an ice sheet. I see that it's a morning shower and that's all they call for. As always be careful and check often along the way.  The edges great today.

Would you mind some company? If so what time do you plan on being there? I want to get out somewhere debating on killdeer or bucyrus. Trying to get a report on bucyrus but nothing yet. Fished alum yesterday afternoon till dark only got 1 keeper crappie so goin somewhere different. Wouldn't mind going back to del but I'm sure the ice is messed up a the rain. That lake raises when it sprinkles so not gonna chance it. Let me know

Ice edges were a little iffy today but not horrible. Once you got out on it ice was a good solid 6''+ of clear hard ice. Ice and water were so clear you could see thru the ice and pick out the reefs! I got on the lake about 6 Ryan (ratherbefishin)  Dan (firefish) and Ryans friend showed up around 8 we fished until 1:00 without a bite! Did manage to site fish in 8ft of water on top of one of the reefs. Saw some nice perch but no takers. I am determined to figure this place out. We went to pond 33 afterwards and tried for gills. Ice edges were horrible!! Did get on but was kinda sketchy. I got the old skunk today but ryan and his buddy managed a couple wall hanger gills. HAHAHA all of 2 in!!!!

Ryan and Dan it was nice fishing with you guys. We will have to get together again. I am gonna catch fish thru the ice there

Yeah that place has been feast or famine for 3-4 years. but when they eat they all eat. Did you see any of those massive walleye and catfish in there? are the edges going to hold for tomorrow? Do I need a 2x12?

I would guesse the edge will hold for tomorrow. You may want to take the board just in case. I may try and head up ties or we'd if anyone wants to join. What time are you going Ballard.
