I have been wondering about adding tip downs to my ice fishing arsenal . They are real sensitive and fun to watch . My concern is the line freezing in the hole . Any feedback would be appreciated..

I've used them in the past and they're really cool in action. In a shanty or on a warm day they're great. But with the way I fish now I don't use anything but one jigging rid and a deadstick. No tipups or tipdowns. But a lot of guys myself included think they're great, it's just easier to be mobile with things not all spread out.

:D I ordered and received a tip down called the Dangler and I'm impressed . Its made of nylon and sets up and down very easy and quickly ,well thought out .It folds up on the line of a jaw jacket ,compact and light .I got one to try on warmer days and in s shelter for my dead stick. Check it out on you tube .

I do like gadgets and I've caught more than my share of catfish . But I jealous of your expertise on nontypical species aka waterdog/mudpuppies . :)What gadget targets them ?
