Title: ice safety
Post by: bbtinker on December 27, 2014, 08:07:48 AM
I've been asked about ice and which is safer, clear or cloudy. Well number one,
always presume, "No" ice is safe. No matter how it looks there are always thin spots on lakes or ponds. Always be cautious. But as far as which ice is better, clear ice is better than cloudy. The clearer the ice, the less impurities and irregularities it has. Clear ice is stronger. But please, still be careful.Ice fishing for fish is fun, not, fishing for humans!

one time at portage lakes there was 3 " of very clear ice and you could see all the way to the bottom about 8 ft , it was very strange walking out onto that , being able to see the weeds and fish  AND THEN.. my brain connected 3 inches of ice  :o :o
