Post by: knucklehead on January 19, 2016, 10:09:28 AM
Went out Sat morning 6:30am first trip this year snowing and blowing ice 4 inches thick everywhere we drilled holes.Fished the shoals 8 to 14 ft of water caught gills, bass, pike, crappie and a few bullhead. Didnt matter the jig they were biting everything did use alot of tungston jigs and several different tear drops. used plastics, waxies and spikes ended the day with a nice limit of gills nothing under 9 inches nothing over 12 inches.Hopefully get some good ice in ohio so we dont have to travel so far.

Great first day on the ice!

Sounds like you had a nice trip. Thanks for posting.

How far north is it from Columbus.

Coldwater is just over the Indiana / Michigan state line off of I-69.  Pretty easy drive really.  I've been through there but never fished the lakes.  About 3+ hrs from Delaware.

All the lakes on the Coldwater chain are great panfish lakes. I fish these regularly during the summer/ fall months. I've never ice fished coldwater, but have all the other lakes, but that might have to change this year
