Title: Crappie bite was hot 01/23-24/16

Marina, ice is 6,7 inches. Largest Crappie in 2 days was 12 inches, but plenty of keepers with plenty of Bream mixed in. 19 keeper Crappie yesterday from sun up until about 2pm. For every keeper threw back at least 3 dinks. Kept 7 Bream also. 6 keeper Crappie the evening of 01/23/16 with 18 Bream, had my 2 young daughters out for a couple hours ages 13 and 8.

happy you got out. where you using a flasher unit, or bobbers or just jigging?  hope your girls caught fish too.

No flasher, Im just familiar with a brush pile I fish year round. My girls caught all the fish on 01/23/16 with horizontal jigs with wax worms and I went out th next morning alone and got everything on jigging Raps.

great keep up with those girls. nice to hear.  my gr chilcren love to fish in summer havent try ice with them yet. but I will.

Do you tip the Jigging Raps with anything.

good crappie bite all afternoon today.bunches of dinks as usual,but had 24 keepers.ice is still 4-5 inches everywhere I was around docks.

 Bought some jigs, caught some fish.... It was a good trip to CJ.

Well either the fish were just not hungry tonight or I just suck. Went out for awhile after work. Marked plenty of fish but only had a few bites. Caught a few small gills and two little crappie. Tried a few things but they wouldn't commit. Gonna try it again in the morning. Anyone have any tips for me?

Yep, it sucked for me. Went out at about 4pm until dark. Be back in the morning

Man, I stuck it out from about 8am until about 5pm yesterday just to get a dozen keeper Crappie. The slab bite was slooooow. I watched the ice thin before my eyes as it turned into a top layer of water. I walked across it when I left but Id be VERY careful out there.

How was Indian 30indabucket?

Not too bad. Report is on Indian lake section. Glad it wasn't just me not being able to catch them at cj tho. Would hurt my ego. Lol. There were def a bunch of fish in there but they were stubborn. If I try it again I'd just fish off the docks. I don't go out once the ice gets iffy.
