Title: NEED SOME CANTON AREA ADVICE
Post by: swedish nipple on January 24, 2019, 12:03:27 PM
I will be in the Canton Area Feb 9th/10th.
AMF Hall of Fame Lanes for a bowling tourney.
Sippo Lake is right there and Meyers lake isnt that far either.
Just curious which lake y'all would go to given the choices.
Along with species you would target.
Thanks!!

Meyers is private.

Sippo has a lot of stunted pan fish.

Maybe head North to Portage Lakes.

Sippo does have a lot of small fish but I would love to pull one of those hybrid stripers they put in it thru the ice.

X2 on Portages Lakes, I live 3 minutes from Sippo but spend most my time on Nimi.

Do you do well on walleye on Nimi? Hear they stock annually.

My vote would be PLX as well, or Deer Creek in Alliance.   There’s some big crappie in there.

I accidentally catch at least one big walleye a year at Nimi while bass fishing the weeds.

I've never pulled one through the ice, even when targeting them.

Good to know Meyers is private  ;)
Ill check out PLX, never fished it.
Any starting points? Ill scour some old posts also, lots of gems in there.

When the ice is safe at Nimi I do well on the perch on the south end by the dam in the 13ft - 20ft depths.

Even though I have averaged 4 times a week on Nimmy over the past 14 years I have yet to catch a walleye. Though I really don't target them. If you head to Nimmy.  Campground Bay is a popular ice fishing spot and is located between c4 and c5 parking lots. The parking lots on the east side of the lake are on Christman Rd and numbered from north to south c1-c6. I will be trying C6 on Saturday.
