I know you have to change the pic to a GIF pic to post as the site doesn't seem to like any other formats. Still better than another site I visit that in order to post pics you have to first download them to something like Pinterst or a site like it.

lantern  fuel about 5.$  ?     because i always used un-leaded high test, then came ethanol  you need aviation  or boat fuel ( no alcohol )  ..   theres even mantels with the lantern  lol      speaking of mantils, they used to put rare elements in them  to get them to glow really bright,  they used alot of wood gas to fuel the street light posts..   ;D

I would be very careful using gasoline in a coleman lantern inside a shanty.  I think it might even be pushing it using coleman fuel.  Beware of carbon monoxide and lack of oxygen.  I guess that might be why I can't think clearly enough to find fish when I heat my shanty with my lantern!  I thought about going to propane, but dispise having to carry extra 1# bottles around and I don't want to  lug around a 20# bottle or spring for a 5# bottle.

Love hearing about the old Coleman lantern,  it brings back so many memories of fishing with my Dad when I was little. I can almost smell the fuel burning and feel that big channel cat starting to tug my line.🤗

Same here,36. Still have a 2 mantel Coleman lantern I used for night fishing for shovelhead cats in the Little Miami River in Cincinnati. Caught one 29 lbs. 12 ounces 42 in. long on a 5" gill fishing from a 12 foot Jon boat. The largest Shovelhead  I've ever seen! Tricky to land him but had plenty of light and a little heat for chilly nights. Memories, yes, are unforgetable !!!

Hey snowcone, let me know where i can get coleman fuel for $5 a gallon.  My local wally world has it for $10 or 12 last time i checked.  Still beats paying $3 per pound of propane.

I have a OLD red single mantel that I still use mainly in the summer while camping,  wish I could find a way of dating it. I'm 57 and remember my dad stopping by a service station that used to be on tallmadge circle for a gallon of white gas on the way camping.

The green bomb prices is why I am going to get the refillable 1lb canisters. Heard Menards has them and the refill kit.

Yeah Rick, I think most of us outdoor guys have a Coleman Lantern buried somewhere in the garage or basement. Heck I have 2 older, green double-mantle styles & 2 of the newer smaller gray models. (I'm not a fan of the newer style... less light & less heat).

I wouldn't throw them away. Good emergency heat & light.
