Title: SW Ohio Ice Conditions
Post by: Southern Ice on January 30, 2022, 08:33:25 PM
Fished a farm pond in SW Montgomery County (just west of Germantown) this afternoon that was just over an acre in size.  Had 4" of hard clear ice once we got out from the edge.  Only had 3" when I checked just out from the edge, another 10' out it went to 4" and stayed.  Less than 1" of snow on top.  We have no snow left on the ground as of this afternoon.  Our local ice won't survive the warm rain coming in, especially if we turn around and get 6" or more of snow of top of what ice that will be left.  Even though it's supposed to get cold Friday and Saturday, I don't think we'll be able to make up the lost ice with that much snow on it?  Time will tell, but looks like I'll need to get back north of I-70 for the rest of the winter...
