Took a vacation day to fish Indian before the warm up and it paid off. Both fish caught on vibees before sunrise. 19" and 22.5" saugeye. Picture is too large to attach.

Got out for a few hours on Thursday January 23, 2025. Fished from the east side in 24' of water. Thought the vexilar was malfunctioning when marks would fly up off the bottom but not hit. Eventually got 4 perch, 4 crappie and a white bass. All were small and released. Red spikes on a gold jig. 8 or 9" of ice.

I caught a 19" saugeye there a couple weeks ago. Two friends were there Friday and got skunked. I am trying on Wednesday.

Drilled through 6-7" of ice on the open part of grand lake on the north side half way between celina and st Mary's. Some slushy and white ice but lots of clear ice. So far, the warm spell not removed too much ice. Still be careful if you venture out.

Got out and drill a hole on the open lake on the north side about center of the lake east/west about 20 yards out and had 3 3/4" of good clear ice. Talked to a fisherman on a shaded, wind protected channel and he said there was about 8". Be careful if you get out and spud your way out and back, have your ice cleats and picks.

Where did you get your red spikes? I usually get mine locally but the long range forecast is looking ɓetter so it may be ɓetter to.buy them in bulk.

Accu weather 45 day forecast is not looking too promising for getting good ice this season. I will not even get my gear out unless we get good ice to avoid the jinx.

Thanks slab.. since season will be short this year with rain and warm temps on the way, I don't think it would do me much-needed good.

David,
Are you still doing these guided saugeye trips on Indian Lake? I might be interested i booking a day if we get good ice.

I threw in the towel for the season. Shanty is stored away until next year (hopefully). My trip to devils lake north dakota will be my last outing for this season. I guess it was good a good season while it lasted.

My first day and last day if icefishing this season were back to back. The next 10 days forecast will not get us back out on the ice. If it wasn't for my devil's lake trip to North dakota, I would put all my gear away now.

Grand Lake opened back up today. Mild temps and rain did a number on the ice we had.
