A  few years back I was checked and didn't have mine marked either. They recommended I do it and I did put it in the pocket like yours. Figured next time they might start enforcing.

General Discussion / Re: Fishing Castalia fish hatchery

That is about the same time I went with my Father (77) last year. I also fished there with 4 children in 2005. With he kids we used bobbers and cheese,canned corn and worms. My father and I used Berkley Powerbaits, trout nuggets and can't remember the other.The weather was beautiful with the kids in the summer but nasty in the fall. Rained very hard all that night and into the morning.As soon as it let up we were casting out with small hooks tipped with the power bait and just enough split shot to cast. Before I could walk away my Dad said fish on. It only took 35 minutes to have are limit, all rainbows. Nothing special about are set up. Dad likes a light pole and light reel normally we fish 10lb test and that's what I had I think his was the same. They will tell you and show you on a map where the deeper holes are and that is where most fish are but they also will be in the stream.Hope this helps ,it was great time both times , Very special for me with my children an their friends then with Dad, also take a net you will want it for the big ones!

For me it's much like hunting,I fish or hunt with what ever method is available at the time,Please don't make me pick,haha That being said I have compiled a lot of ice fishing gear if it wasn't for the boats(plural) I would probly have more invested in ice gear.

General Discussion / Re: A Camera or A flasher
« on: February 12, 2013, 07:13:15 AM »
The only reason I need a camera is because I already have 2 flashers and my Dad said he wants one.He uses one of my flashers when we're out which is why I bought the second one. Now if I buy the camera and give it to him the wife doesn't get so upset.and she understands I take care pf all his ice gear. By the way Dad just turned 78 and I had to sneak out the 1st trip this year to make sure Ice was really good.

And if there's any left you can have a snack,maybe I better buy 2 bags!! ;

« on: February 04, 2013, 09:27:48 AM »
We are all in this together. I don't post much and I do stalk IFO alot. I wish peace and happiness for everyone on this site. I was able to get out one  2 days on the ice this year and use my brand new never drilled ice before  2 1/2 yr old  power auger. yes
 the weather sucks I complain all the time , all my friends listen to me. So can you, I like to joke around and if I get to no some of you better we can really do some cutting up and down. I we'll be having surgery soon and my ice season may be over for the year and that's alright. I got to pull some nice ones thru the ice.

General Discussion / Re: filling my propane tanks
« on: December 24, 2012, 09:43:26 AM »
I would like to caution everyone on refilling  propane. I do this my self and agree once you get your small tanks very cold have your big tank at room temp and fill for a  1 min. You will here the gas flowing. Here is my caution make sure the threads on the tank are clean and not rusted. I don't recommend using a wire brush on the threads either.  the bottle will have a leak at the threads if they have to much rust on them.
