General Discussion / Re: NAVIONICS FOR YOUR SMART PHONE
« on: December 20, 2013, 02:50:54 PM »
I've had the app for a  year or so as well... for 9.99 you can't beat it.. I also have a hand held and 2 fishfinders on my boats with navionics. But, I always carry my phone and sometimes forget to grab the handheld unit

General Discussion / Re: vexilars versus regular fish finders
« on: December 18, 2013, 06:21:37 PM »
I used an Eagle Cuda LCD fishfinder for years as my ice rig. I paid $30 for it used and rigged it up so the transducer set level in the hole. I could dial it in to see my jig in 30 ft. of water and see the fish coming in. It can be done and the delay is minimal on some units. Sometimes the extreme cold affected it but it got the job done most times. I know own a Vex FL-22 and a Vex double vision...

General Discussion / Re: Why are you excited for this ice season?
« on: November 24, 2013, 08:41:07 PM »
I get excited every year for ice and to try out new products as well as socialize with friends I rarely get to see except on the ice. This year will be even more exciting for me with the NEPL tour and a bunch of new to me lakes to fish.

I've had the liberty to use these as proto-types and I they are one hot little lure. I'd be very surprised if they aren't one of the top blade baits this season.

Check into the Predator lure by PK spoons if your looking to add any spoon or blade baits. These little gems with be hot  ticket this year. The other spoons and flutterfish work great as well.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Scott, Mike will be calling me tomorrow evening but you probably won't see this message before then. You can shoot me an email via the NEPL website too. I just posted the tentative 2014 schedule there also and Pymatuning is on the open water list.
