Lake Erie / Is it safe to leave off the mainland anywhere near the Miller ferry yet?

   I Know it can be dangerous leaving off the point due to currents around mouse island til the ice gets really thick. Does anyone know if its safe to depart anywhere near the point yet? Thanks in advance.
