General Discussion / Newb looking for advice.

A friend and I hve been coming down and doing some ice fishing with a guide for walleye. This year we have decided to try our luck on our own. We are from Louisville ky abs plan to be down the last week of February. We normally fish out of put in bay. We plan to bring quads and our own shanty. Could someone give me us some advice as to where to put in as I am guessing getting out to south bass island is a no go from inland. Are there any laws forbidding out of staters from having quads on the ice?
