General Discussion / Re: filling my propane tanks
« on: December 27, 2012, 11:28:21 AM »
You can buy a fitting almost anywhere now for just under 20 bucks, the problem is sometimes you do not get the 1 pounders very full, it sweemsw like when your big tank gets low. I did see a you tube video last year where a guy pit together a valve and pipe so he could release the pressure on the small tank by pushing the pin in that equalizes the pressure and allows you to fill the small tank. I have yet to try it. I will tryt tgo find it again and post the link. BUT REMEMBER THIS IS AN OUTDOOR ACTIVITY AWAY FROM CHILDREN. Happy Holidays and God Bless Dave

General Discussion / Wisconsin Update
« on: January 29, 2012, 05:41:38 PM »
Another Beautiful weekend in WI the ice is here to stay finally. The boys fished in a kids fiheree today sponsored by the "Friends of Pool 10". I am not sure the count but my guess is over 125 children took part in it. The largest fish caught was a 27 inch northern, over fifty fish weighed in, last year it was less than 10. I'm sorry to say the boys got skunked though we did help Brock and Brook, 2 young children from IA, catch their first fish through the ice. I also left the camera at home so no pics this year of the event.

I am looking forward to meeting up with Mike and Chris next week in the Northwoods area.

stay safe and Teach a child to fish Dave

Great point Tim i thought Dave was retiring old yeller this year. I guess he just cant bear to part with it. Maybe you should have your wife bring in a jigging rod and bucket so you can keep in practice. I'm planning on going up to Petenwell lake next week in north central Wisc to promote the site and hopefully catch some fish. Take care of yourself we are all praying for a speedy recovery for you Dave

Things are looking up here I got out on lake Onalaska last week in La Crosse. marked a lot of fish a couple of bites nothing on the ice. Ice was 8 inches. Thursday I fished in Prairie Du Chien 10 inches of ice again marked a lot of fish and caught a couple Shad. Saturday I got out in Bagley on the mississippi little action though, it was 14 below yesterday morning. I plan on getting out in PDC again tomorrow. and heading up river till I find the Fish.

HWJ I am glad to here you are recovering, if you want I can get a DR friend of mine to write you a script for R and R up here. I am sure your wife won't mind and crv or dave  or someone will drive you up here. God bless and be safe Dave

I cant remember who told last year, but I bought a hard plastic arrow case for 20 bucks that makes a great rod case. just a warning the tubes with the cloth ends for the reel do protect everything but you break your lines taking them in and out of the case. Dave

I have used the waxworm and shiner and had a lot of luck with them but I must also say the bite was just as good at the same time with live waxies and minnows
