I hear u bro, Ive been redoing a 1967 starcraft 12` all winter. got a  7.5 outboard wantn to take it out but the crap weather we have isnt allowing me to do so either. If the weather cooperates think I`ll try ruggles reef on erie with it.
Do u know when would b a good time to hit up Berlin or Skeeter. Bout a 2hr drive for me just to skunk out.

typically in lake erie the best way Ive found is fishing 7 to 14 fow with green or chartruce reef runners. Inland waters now lil different, depending on above ground or below ground, above ground I run a DT6 shad or sexy shad by KVD in 7 to 28 fow depending where fish r holding, below groung I`ll run a hj6 or hj7 siilver or gold pattern. works greatt 4 me . good luck

Pro's Pointers / Re: Spring Panfish Under a Bobber
« on: March 07, 2013, 05:21:09 PM »
MY setup for spring gills is a lite action rod from the bank, spooled with 4lb trilene max. never had any problems yet( hope i dont jinks myself) a split shot just heavy enough to submerge 3/4 of the smallest slip bobber, and pin head ice jigs tipped w/maggots.
I target early weedbeds in shallow water between 6 fow and 10 fow. usually a great plan to start with. If theres any kind of wind I move to a smaller split shot.
Most of the time I find it easier to catch gills in open water with ice rods all year long off a boat.
