Night fished the n and s end last night from 5-930. Ice was good. 5".  Went with 3 buddies and we never really found em.  We ended with 3 peanuts.  There were another 2 guys on s end moving quite a bit so I assume they never found em either.  Tough bit.   Met Joewalguy on his way out.  Great to meet you.

Tight lines.

Fished S end from 130- dark. Only person on that side.   A few 7 inch gills and a few
8 inch crappie. Mostly caught on glow vertical jigs with rubber fails.  No bait. Nothing kept.   Ice was nice.  4.5-5 inches everywhere I walked.  There were a few guys in north end but only caught dinks as well.  Was really nice to be out and hope to get out once more before the next weeks forecast.
Tight lines.

I have a few duck hunting buddies that dock at whites and they said the west end was locked last weekend and they yanked their boats.  I only perched fished there a few times years ago and never done any good.   There are 3 springs that don't freeze real good straight out of whites.  Be careful.

Mine went once a few yrs ago.  We didn't really catch any fish, but we stayed in the shanty and had a heater, comfortable seats and hot coco.  She thought it was fun.  I guess not really that fun because it was only once a few hrs ago.  My advice would be to treat them like a kid.  Make it comfortable and not a death march.  It doesn't even have to be all fishing.  Have a snowball fight or make up games to play on the ice.  See who can slide the furthest or what ever.  Make it fun!!! Go where you know you can catch a few to keep it interesting and when she is ready to leave, just go.  If you have friends that want to go with the group, even better.  The more the merrier.
Hope she enjoys.

Does this work better then the low power mode on the 18?  I have been curious about these for a few yes but never really knew anyone who had tried it.

I don't really use a case unless i go out on Erie where a quad or sled is used.  I use golf club pipes from dicks and cut a notch for the reel handle and use a small bungi to keep it tight. Then just throw them in a bucket handle down.  Looks like a few mortar launchers hanging out.  Dicks sporting has them for $2 a tube.  Just cut to size.

I have my fingers crossed.  Probably should be ok if it doesn't rain and the temps drop again in a few days.  Ice was 4 inch of clear ice so it's pretty strong and might be able to hold out for a short warm up.

I gotta work.   Got out a little this weekend tho so can't complain.  :(
Thought of a few more tho.

1).  Spent whole night in ER because I cut my tongue on my auger blade after making auger shaving slushies.

2) lost and been wandering the lake for 3 days because my wifi on my phone stopped and my navionics ap locked up

3) getting a divorce because I spend more time tinkering with my shack then time with my wife.

Ok I'm done.  Tight lines all

Hi all.
Happy ice season.  Was sitting in the shack today and thought it would be fun to see what terrible excuses everyone could come up with to call off work and fish.  I'll start.  Please post any ridiculous thought you have.

1) water all over floor and waiting on a plumber because my daughter flushed the toilet while I was working on my jigging rapala technique.

2) not feeling well because my tuna casserole was undercooked by my mr heat.

Oh and knitting a belly button lint sweater.   I actually was thinking of studded bicycle tires to pull my shack out on far walks.  Gonna tinker and try next year.   Will post pics if I figure out how.
