I've caught a handful bass fishing weed beds, but I really want one through the ice. Haven't done that yet.

FishLaughtAtMe is right.
We talked with Officer Brown. He is a helpful and informational officer. A great resource for us.
He explained that Div3 considered opening the campground lot for hardwater. When they opened the campground to winter campers, they didn't want the campers to have to deal with all that traffic so they decided the lot is for campers only.

Lost 2 clear tackle boxes with all my ice lures, jigs, and terminal tackle.
Somewhere between parking lot on Main St and dragging south on main lake.
Reward if found.

Planning on hitting Nimi Thursday and Friday.
Going to try to find a pattern Thursday and dial it on Friday.
Hopefully I’ll find some green lively weeds in various depths.

I met FishLaughAtMe in the parking lot and fished with him for a little while.
Nice meeting you!
I also caught a few small perch and gills.
I stayed a few hours after he left. There was about a 20 -30 min time right before dark where I marked tons of fish and the little perch went on a feeding frenzy, then it shut down completely.
I drove around Nimi yesterday. East and North sides looked very sketchy and this snow isn't gonna help it.

Thanks Slabslayer. My favorite place on Nimi to get on ice is C1, but S. Main is my #2. How deep were they hitting? Flats or close to "structure"?

I'm getting my gear ready and Helix and drill charged. I didn't get out last year but will this year.
I fished with snowcone on Nimi a few years ago. I only live 5 min away. He showed me an earth auger he converted to ice. Pretty slick.
Hopefully I can meet up with some more members for some outings this season!

I'm not as experienced as a lot of guys here and I only ice fish a handful of times per season, but I'd love to spend 2 weeks in a high end fish house waaaaay up north camping on the ice.
Equipped with all the tackle I could ever want to try, just trying everything out.
Learning every bait, rod, reel, line, technique, augers, electronics, etc...
Never watching the clock, just focused on fishing for 2 straight weeks.
No internet, no tv.
Nothing "important" on my mind.
Some classic rock playing low in the background. Maybe old Chicago with that sweet horn section or some Doobie Brothers when Tommy Johnston was their lead singer.
Smoking fat cigars and sipping on some Tennesee peach whiskey with iced tea.
1 phone call to the wife before bed so she knows my big a$$ hasn't had a heart attack, and so I can share my adventure with her and tell her how lucky and happy I am.

When the ice is safe at Nimi I do well on the perch on the south end by the dam in the 13ft - 20ft depths.

Do you do well on walleye on Nimi? Hear they stock annually.
I accidentally catch at least one big walleye a year at Nimi while bass fishing the weeds. I've never pulled one through the ice, even when targeting them.
