Indian Lake / Ice conditions?
« on: February 04, 2022, 03:50:59 PM »
Has anyone put eyes on the lake since the storm? Was wondering if the ice held up. I'm sure any current areas are in bad shape but didn't know if anywhere else had fishable ice. Thanks

Manners and good sense are in short supply these days. Not much you can do but shake your head and go on with your day...

Fished long island Sunday. Caught probably 60 gills. Kept a dozen nice ones and one crappie. Prob 5 inches but there are definitely spots with less.

My Indian lake page still comes up in the old format before the website was changed, but I can read everything fine and post on it. It is somewhat jumbled tho. And is the same on tablet and phone...

Damn Joel, sounds like a rough year. Do whatever you need to do to get feeling better. I hope things continue to improve for you. Has the entry form for this year been posted anywhere? I haven't seen it...

Wow.  That sucks. And I was mad when I lost 1 rod off the docks last year... I hope you get your stuff back. If not, message me and I can prob set you up with enough stuff to get you thru until you get more.  I've got more than ill ever need. Fyi rural king has really powerful magnets you can tie a rope to. They're like 10 bucks. Might be worth getting one and dragging it around that dock.
Good luck,
Aaron

I'd say the run time is actually probably longer than that. And it's plenty hot enough. Unless it's really cold and windy, I can only run it for 10 or 15 minute in my Kenai thermal without cracking the door or I get too hot. The smaller size and lighter weight plus less heat make it about perfect for a one man flip.
And I started using a clam plate with a 900 series Dewalt drill on my 8 inch laser auger this year. Even with a 60v battery it's not super heavy, and can really chew some ice. All the snow this year makes you really think about all the crap you haul around doesn't it? Lol

I'd say a4 wheeler isn't a bad plan if you're going far. I'm sure there will be some paths beat down on the snow but its still some work, especially with a bum knee. And I'd hate to see you get out there and hurt it and then have to make it back...
As far as parking goes, there were some piles of snow that would make parking tough with a 2wd, but the state lots are plowed and I'm sure there will be some places flattened out by other guys. Should be doable. Good luck guys. I'm off to Saginaw

I got done early at work on Wed and made the trip up. Was 3 o'clock by the time i got there, and i decided just to fish for eyes. Hit paradise point since it's a short walk and getting time for that spot to heat up. Fished an hour with one mark. Packed up and headed to north fork. It was slow. Got 1 small  wb and 2 short eyes . Was packing up at dark and had already dumped my bait, and finally caught a 17" keeper. Released him to get bigger.
There is a ton of snow on the ice and slushy spots. It is an absolute nightmare to drag a shanty.  Ice I checked was still prob 8 inches but with the snow on top and warming temps late week and next week, I'm not hopeful it will last a whole lot longer... Stay safe out there.
