Berlin Reservoir / ice conditions 1/18
« on: January 18, 2010, 11:41:04 PM »
with the warm temps and rain it is a no brainer the ice conditions are going to became dangerous.  I was nobody was out today, i walked out on the in about 3 f.o.w. with out any give.  my buddy and his dad went out the picked their way along with a spud bar and drilling test holes they saw 4.5" of ice in most spots, however with the water setting on the ice it creates weakend pockets.  about 40 yards from shore on his second hit the spud bar broke through....needless to day they walked back the same way they came in without wetting a line

Berlin Reservoir / ice conditions // fishing report 01/16

spent a couple of hours out on the ice saturday north of st rt 224.  i fished in the pack because of deteriating ice condions.  the ice was 6" thick with the top 3" being cloudy and the bottom 3 being clear ice.  guys were catching pretty well, but i didn't share their luck.  i had one hit.  Perch colored spoons and jigging raps were working, most of the walleye's were less than 15" and got tossed back.  sunday morning i drove over the lake guys were still out

Mosquito Creek Reservoir / ice conditions 12/31/09

I haven't  been out yet but i got info from a fishing buddy of mine who was out on the ice.....there was about 40 people out on the northside of the causeway.  seeing so many people on the ice he ventured out.  He cut his first hole and busted a lot quicker then he thought,  he measured the ice thickness and it was only 2 3/4", but it was good clear solid ice.  he stayed out for about an hour i had a bite on his first drop.  he managed a few smaller crappie.  the guy he was fishing with caught a 13" walleye.  the drove up to the public access north of pikey bay because he saw people fishing up near the bouy line.  they broke through close to the access and turned back.  hopefully the cold snap thats on it's way makes it solid enough to safely go out......no info on the southside.  if one does venture out stay clear of the bridge area of the causeway,  there is a small current that flows there and the ice is always weak there or non exsistant.  last year we had 8" of ice on most of the lake, but there was open water near the bridge.
