Pro's Pointers / Camera use
« on: January 10, 2014, 11:07:40 PM »
I used to have a old aquavue camera and although i liked it it was alwgays a pain getting it set up and in proper viewing position.  Now i have a new color marcum camera i got from a buddy and was wondering what the quickest way is to set up.  I just ordered one of those aqua vue motorized pods but whats the wuickest way to set your depth?    Should you just let cord out till camera reaches bottom and pull it up a foot or two?    Thoughts would be appreciated.  Its always hard to find my jigs initially.

General Discussion / Vexilar fl-22
« on: January 04, 2013, 10:12:03 PM »
After ice fishing all my life without a flasher I bought a fl22 last year.  Some of my buddies have the fl8's 12's and 20's but I figured if I was gonna spend the money on one I would go all out and get the newest.  I haven't quite figured it out perfectly yet.   Too me it's even easier to read my buddies fl-12 than mine.  Does anyone have any tips or comments on this flasher.  I think I wish I would have gotten a simpler version or maybe that dave genz would walk by and give me a hand.    I have had a aquavue for 6 or seven years now and have always found that entertaining

General Discussion / East harbor
« on: January 01, 2013, 10:47:23 PM »
Fished east harbor today.  Only about 2" of ice had to spud a zigzag trail out.   I don't want to hear about it being unsafe or foolish.  Everyone can make their own decisions.  I'm 34 years old and there has never been a year I haven't been on the ice that I can remember.  Worst case scenario at east harbor you go through and your nipples get wet.   Anyhow we were obviously the first people out this year.   It's going to take upntonthe weekend before I would take my daughter out with me.   Water was very murky and could not find weed beds which is very unusual for east harbor.  Usually your trying to find a clearer spot to get your jig down.  Anyhow it's not looking to hot there this year caught two small bluegill between four of us in over 2 hours.    On another note we left there and went to a marina in Catawba and ended up keeping maybe 20 fish and throwing small ones back.   Marinas in Sandusky bay we could not get on yet.   Maybe a few more days.
