I will be in the Canton Area Feb 9th/10th.

Sippo Lake is right there and Meyers lake isnt that far either.
Just curious which lake y'all would go to given the choices.
Along with species you would target.
Thanks!!

Soooo..... I'm looking for a Pack Shack/ HT Polar Express.
Basically a 1 man shanty that flips over a camp style chair.
I have 1 that needs a little work.
But I am looking for a new one (itll fit in a small vehicle) light weight, comes in a back pack style carrying bag.
I like the mobility of them, but am having troubles locating one.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Lake Erie / Warning ... East Harbor camp ground ramp
« on: February 10, 2018, 07:52:17 PM »
Please use extreme caution while launching from the campground ramp area...    The ice at the breakwall section of the ramp is not safe.   I launched at 7am walked to the breakwall with good ice... In between the breakwall  the ice turned to garbage.   Spud went through with 2 hits....   We backed out and found a different path.    Later on in the morning 2 people went through in that section.  It sure looked like someone went through last night on the way out but I cannot confirm that.   Please please please Spud.

Wellington / wellington upground???
« on: December 28, 2017, 04:41:51 PM »
Anyone been able to lay eyes on the upground?
Wondering if it locked up or if the wind/geese kept it open.
Usually takes a little longer for the perched reservoirs to lock up

General Discussion / INTERESTING/FUN WEBSITE
« on: March 06, 2014, 10:08:54 AM »
I ran across the below website the other day and found it to be interesting.
1 link is my personal trophy page, which is small since i just started it.
The other is a link to the home page of the site.

http://www.trophystack.com/
http://www.trophystack.com/users/1109-otho-holcomb

Also check out the 14 lb snook on the recently uploaded photos page. the chick is smokin hot.  :o ;D :-*

Don't worry I won't be flooding the site with reoccuring links, just a one time post so if your interested you can check it out.

It is a website designed to rank your Trophies across the county in which it was harvested, the state it was harvested and the entire country.

Keep in mind it only ranks the trophies against other trophies that have been posted.

Its also an easy way to keep all your trophy pics and info in one spot.
It saves the moon phase, air temp and wind directiion/speed of the date harvested.

It ranks Deer along with other large Game & Fish.

Im sure after this ice season one of you guys can dethrone my #1 walleye catch.

Spencer lake / 1/13/2014 evening bite
« on: January 12, 2014, 11:12:40 PM »
Made it out tonight for the evening bite. Things we slow until around 5:00. Picked up 30 chunky gills from 5:00-7:00. Had to sort through the small ones. Again 6fow produced the best. Caught everything on a glow green bobber fry from jamming jigs. Ice was 4-1/2 to 5" everywhere. Edges  were still solid. Saw one guy fall on the slick ice. Felt bad for him he fell so hard it sent a ripple through my holes. Ice will hold through tomorrow as long as we don't get a bunch of rain. All the water on top of the lake from Saturday tightened back up overnight and was good and hard today. If you make it out tomorrow be sure to have your cleats with you. The ice is slicker than snot on a door knob.

General Discussion / Open Country Tumble Drum
« on: January 12, 2014, 10:57:04 PM »
Got to try my buddies open country tumble drum fish scaler tonight. WOw does it do a great job. Threw 30 gills in there for 20 minutes pulled them out checked them, not one scale on any of them. Anyone who likes to scale their fish instead of skinning them absolutely needs to get one of these. Fished at Spencer today will post a report there.

Spencer lake / 1/11/2014. Nice to meet you
« on: January 11, 2014, 08:37:33 PM »
On the coldest day in 30 years Tuesday I got to fish most of the day with Deerslayern. It was great finally getting to meet him. Had a great day and took home a nice basket of Gills. Today I met Fishingoat at sunrise and spent the morning looking for a hot bite.  Also met joewallguy this morning as he was there also. Today was tougher fishing with a lot of sorting through gills and crappie. The morning bite was best for me and the evening bite wasn't bad either. Left with a good basket of crappie and chunky gills. Most of the fish were caught in 6fow on glow green or gold.  The ice was holding up good against the weather. the edges took most of the punishment. I have to say it is a wonderful feeling to finally have some IFOers in my area. Thanks for stopping to say hi and getting out on the ice.

General Discussion / Jammin Jigs
« on: January 03, 2014, 10:22:35 PM »
I picked up some jamming jigs today. Wow the paint job on these are gorgeous!!! Not sure, I might have to rubber coat the hemos. I used one a few times last year and it caught fish. Hopefully I will be able to put them to the test this year.

Spencer lake / 12/31/13 Ice Report
« on: December 31, 2013, 12:09:59 PM »
I went and checked Spencer around 11am to see how the lakes were setting up.
I checked the west ends of the north and south lakes.
North lake at the boat ramp was 2". I didn't go more than a few feet from the ramp. I really didn't feel like getting wet.  The ramp on the north end is situated in a protected cove.
The south lake looked a little different. the edges seemed to take most of the damage from the last warm up we had. The edges of the south lake were only about 1" thick. I grabbed the 8' 1x10 out of my truck. About 8' out the ice was at 2" hard and clear.
Both sides have snow sitting on them. Not sure if that snow with the pending snow we have coming in over the next day or so will help or hurt us. It will either weigh the ice down push water up and refreeze. or worst case insulate the the ice and make it hard to grow.
I won't check again until Saturday as that is the earliest I would see it being ready.
Another update to follow on Saturday.
Everyone be safe and have a Wonderful New year.
