First hello all. I was wondering if anyone had any favorite fishing apps to share with a smartphone nube. Thanks!

I fished there today on the 43 side from noon until 6:30 p.m. We drilled 20 plus holes and caught 20 or so fish between the two of us.  Only 5 keepers in the bunch. 3 nice gills and two 9 1/2" crappies after dark. 6 fow and 10 fow.

Pro's Pointers / Tungsten Jigs
« on: January 28, 2014, 01:56:06 PM »
I recently read an article about tungsten jigs/baits. The author seemed to be pro-tungsten. I wanted to get some other opinions. As we all know  there might be ulterior motives to want every fisherperson in the country to have exclusively tungsten in their tackle box. He might own a tungsten factory or something.  ;D Thanks for any input.

I headed out friday afternoon around 1:00 from the boat ramp on s.main.  I ventured south toward the sun thinking maybe it would be slighty warmer. That was my first mistake of the day. It was blowing snow sideways and up...but mostly up. I would almost say that it was blowing snow sideways and up 'to beat the band'. But I'm not the type to say anything was doing something 'to beat the band'.

I had a borrowed shanty(that I never used or seen before),  saftey gear, auger, electronics, three ice rods each with a different offering that I personally tied on the line with equal amounts love and high hopes. I had hand warmers, toe warmers, snacks, drinks, buckets, sled etc.  One thing I did not have was a way to anchor the shanty. While I was jumping on the shanty to fold it up I was trying to figure out if this was a polar vortex or just a good old fashioned cold front.

I did get a single perch to open his mouth before me and the shanty got blow away from the south. Lesson learned.

We drilled our first hole around 9:00 this morning and packed it in at 2:30.
Which by the way is the best time to go to the Dentist office...2:30 (tooth hurty). Enough with with the Laffy Taffy jokes that I read in third grade and down to business. Hey sometimes you just gotta go with it.

Both of us landed 2 catfish each. My fishing partner lost another nice one at the hole. All nice size 18"-22" fish. We also managed to find 3 perch willing to accept our offerings. No size to speak of though. All in 15 fow with 1/100th micro-jigs in four different colors.
