Well I finally made it out for the first time and even got lucky enough to land on some big gills! The water was cloudy as hell, the ice was about 4 1/2 inches at the campgrounds. Small spoons were the trick for me today, everyone else I talked to said they were biting super light. Be safe everyone and still carry that spud, the ice is really uneven in some spots.

Well the gills were on fire today at dusk. We got on the ice around 4pm and they were non stop until dark. Tried out my small fire tiger spoon and they loved it. Definitely a lot of ice growth since i was last out a few days ago thats for sure haha

Went out to the campground and fished from 9 to 12. I was extremely happy to see the big gills coming back, we caught 3 that were 9-10 inches and we saw a bunch more down there along with a few small crappie. Used green tungsten and waxies for the gills and small spoon tipped with waxies for the crappie and bigger gills

Went out to the campground today with my dad. We moved around a bit  and found a small brush pile and using pin mins and waxies bouncing off the bottom it was dink city. So we moved in closer and found the weeds and started getting a little bit bigger fish in about 4 fow. We were just looking down inside the hole and watched the fish take the lure, it was by far a great day being able to sight ice fish haha it would've been better had the fish been bigger though. the ice was about 4in but a lot of cracking and gulping sounds going on, I will probably not go back there for awhile considering when I left there were about 20 shanties up and the ice was swiss cheese

Salt Fork / Fishing this Sunday
« on: March 02, 2015, 11:19:03 PM »
Well I'm going to give salt fork a try this Sunday and see how things are down there, it can't possibly be any worse then what I've been doing at nimi this year. So two questions for anyone that might be able to help out, first does anyone know if the bait shop is open down there and the second is has anyone been down there and doing any good. I have a few spots to try but of anybody has any helpful tips that would be great lol

sorry for the late post. but headed out to nimisila Saturday night and fished from midnight to about 7:30 am, started off with two small crappie and a mud cat so I set up the shanty and my buddy showed up and we didn't get anything until 3:30ish and even then the crappie were biting light and only on bobbers. the bite got stronger as the morning progressed but we might have walked away with 6-8 keeper crappie. it was nice just being out though on my day off haha

General Discussion / Fly Tying Jigs
« on: February 12, 2015, 11:59:32 PM »
For years now I have been tying a few jigs either for fly fishing or crappie fishing and this year I was wondering if anybody makes their own ice jigs. just curious to see what everyone tries and if you have any jigs you've made for spring crappie I would appreciate some tips  ;D

Well I wouldn't say I killed them but I did better then I expected lol ice was about 8in in most spots but thank god for the shanty because that wind was killer. Managed to get six 2lb cats and about 10 dink gills. It was nice just catching my first catfish ice fishing lol

Hello everybody! Finally able to go out this week and test some new gear out, I plan on heading out mid morning and from what I hear either the ramp or c5 are the best bets. Is anyone else planning on going out?

Nimisila / Potential Ice Conditons this week 1-19-15
« on: January 17, 2015, 03:56:57 AM »
Well I'm late getting out this year and with a newborn only two weeks old it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get out until maybe sometime this week. I'm trying to find out the potential conditions for this week and see what you all think might be the best day to try and go out. I've also heard that many people at pizza bay are fishing closer to the point this year instead of inside the bay, just curious if anyone has tried in the bay and had any luck yet or if the ice is just too sketchy. and last but not least has anyone tried fishing pine tree bay yet?

Atwood / Atwood Fishing Report 11-2-14
« on: November 04, 2014, 05:58:08 AM »
well dad and I went out Sunday to Atwood, we put in at the east marina and fished all the way back up to the dam with little jigs and a few curl tail jigs but no luck. we finally got to the bay right by the park up at the dam around 11am and we killed the crappie non stop until around 3pm. the smallest was 10 3/4 and the biggest was 12 1/2 so all in all it was a really great day for us. cant wait for the ice!

Good morning to all you ifo members out there. I live down in canton and don't get a chance to swing by nimi nearly as often as I would like, but at the end of last years season I know they closed down the little parking lot by pizza bay. does anyone know if it's going to be open this year and if they fixed they huge mud hole issue.

Soft Water Fishing Reports / Atwood Softwater 3-30-14
« on: March 31, 2014, 04:04:07 AM »
Well went out to atwood yesterday from 8am-4pm and really killed the crappie. Managed to get about 30 keepers all about 10-11 inches and threw back atleast 3 dozen or more that were about 8-9 inches. Hit up the bridge past the old cemetary first before it got crowded with the "fair weather fishermen" then moved on down to the spillway and caught 6 fat saugeye but they were only 12 inches   :-\ i hope the water starts to rise here soon because the spillway is still way to low to really fish lol atleast for me  ;D
